Mass is celebrated at Thicket every Sunday at 9.30a.m. and all are welcome.
Weekday Masses are also open to the public but the times vary, so please phone the monastery if you wish to attend, to confirm the time.

On the feast of St Bartholomew, 24 August 1562, St Teresa set out with a small group of companions from the Monastery of the Incarnation in Avila, to make the first foundation of her reform - St Joseph's in Avila.
Today we celebrated the anniversary with the blessing of a new, small bell: Teresa, for use inside the monastery, which will call us to prayer and the various activities of the day while reminding us that we do so for the Glory of God and the needs of the whole world and all those who ask our prayer.

Today Mother Mary of Carmel celebrates her Diamond Jubilee of Religious Professon. We thank God for her 60 years of dedicated loving service to the Church and to our community including as infirmarian, novice mistress and Prioress and especially for her vision and wisdom in overseeing the move to our beautiful new monastery in 2009. This morning she renewed her vows at Mass.

We were delighted to host a gathering of more than 30 religious of Middlesbrough Diocese here at Thicket for our second day of reflection and sharing in preparation for the Synod.
We were joined by representatives from the Bar Convent, Ampleforth Abbey, Stanbrook Abbey, the Marist Fathers, the Corpus Christi Carmelite Sisters, the Sisters of Divine Love and the Sisters of Mercy. The discussions were chaired by Sr Ann Stafford CJ. Canon Jerry Twomey, our Episcopal Vicar for Religious, also took part in the day and celebrated Mass for us.
Deacon David Cross, who was present as an observer, generously offered to collate the notes taken during discussion and so include a contribution from religious in the synod response that will be sent from the diocese to Rome.
It was recognised that ‘walking together’ on this synodal journey is just as important as any outcome. Therefore, the suggestion arose that the religious of the diocese should continue to meet occasionally as a group, for sharing and mutual support. This was greeted enthusiastically by all and it is hoped that our next gathering will take place at Ampleforth in the autumn, at the kind invitation of Abbot Robert.
